In today's world there are many things on which human life is dependent upon.  One such valuable resource is water which covers the three-fourth of Earth surface. As we all know, with the advancement of humans there has been undesired development in one more field i.e. pollution.

 Pollution is a major concern and threat to human beings. Water pollution is exponentially growing problem in today's world which has led to discover hundreds of solution of this problem. One of them is to purify water through R.O. (Reserve Osmosis), it filter the impurity up to 0.001 microns (1 meter = 1,000,000 microns) and removes excess heavy metals from water.    

But as we know that every coin has two faces likewise use of R.O. is beneficial but it too has own set of dis-advantages such as it make the drinking water low in TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) which is not good for digestion and most important thing it waste a lot of water when 1 litre of water is purified through it then 4 litre of water get wasted. It means that if 100 families use this purifier everyday then they waste 400 litres of water to purify 100 litres of water. In a local research it has been found that only 10 percent of the families are eager to save the waste water that outlets from the R.O. purifier. Through scientific research it has been found that we need R.O. when the TDS of the tap water is more than 300 and if the water TDS is between 100 to 300 then it is absolutely fine to drink the tap water, then we only need UV (Ultra Violet) purifier which kills harmful microorganism. R.O. make the water TDS less than 100. Hence R.O. purifier ultimately leads to mammoth wastage of fresh water.

The water that get wasted is not grey water so it can be used for mopping, car washing, cleaning clothes, etc and most of the people are not aware of this fact. If this wastage of water continues then it will lead to severe shortage of fresh water. So we need to realize the importance of above concept as the resource saved by us today would be the most precious gift given to the future generation to come.
