There are several techniques like “Black Hat” or “Unethical” On Page techniques. Some SEO companies use these types of unethical techniques which are advisable to avoid. Search Engine will trap these unethical techniques sooner or later. As a result of this, search engine will ban or degrade your website.

Following practices are considered to be negative On Page SEO techniques:-

1. Do not place the ‘hidden’ or ‘unnoticed’ phrases or text if you want our website on top ranking. Here is an example: text to be searched like “widget” in the HTML coding has white font color and background color is also set as white. 

So visitor could not view the text content. Search engine will disapprove and your website will be penalized each time the visitor searches for that hidden text. This may either result into low rank on search engines or getting banned by search engines.

2. Another negative On Page SEO technique to be avoided is  html tags. Unethical SEO services may introduce them into your web page with negative coordinates placing content outside the visible page. The visitor may not visualize it; however text already exists on the page. The search engine searches the keywords in the text while the visitor is unaware of this process. Try to avoid this technique.

3. Do not include sneaky or cloaking redirects. Cloaking is all about serving two different types of contents depending on the type of visitor who visits the website. If the visitor is a regular web visitor then one page is displayed. But if the visitor is search engine spider then website displays other page designed specifically for search engine spiders. Such pages include haphazard text and content stuffed with several keywords and word phrases which has no meaning. Just like above techniques, this technique is also avoided so that your website do not get penalized.

4. Avoid using duplicate content on your website. When you create one web site with certain content on topic A. The duplicate content means the repetition of that particular content again and again on several other websites. You create the website and set in the highest ranking and then block up the search engines with same content duplicated on more than one domains. Thus try to neglect this technique also.

5. Doorway Pages are typically pages that contain poor quality content, specifically content targeting some chosen keywords. This technique is used to get high ranking in search engines. Such web pages may have exact or similar content taken from some other websites. Such pages do not have navigation to main page. Try to avoid using this technique.

6. Several companies use Link Farms technique used to gain link popularity. Link farm is all about placing multiple links almost 50-100 links to websites that do not have any relation with your website. Such pages do not give any benefit to visitors as they do not contain any interesting stuff. Website using Link farms can penalize by search engines.

To summarize “On Page” optimization play very essential role in SEO, however it has lost its significance over past few years with the expanding growth of search engine complexity. You may find rankings and good results temporary but once you are caught, your site may be permanently banned by search engines.
